Pahrump Valley Times NYE COUNTY'S LARGEST-CIRCULATION NEWSPAPER SINCE 1970 A Stephens Media Group Newspaper
In 1980 Pahrump was home to just over 3,000 residents. The figure grew to almost 8,000 by 1990. And that was when the newspaper was playing hopscotch, jumping from its long-time location -- two adjoining rooms in the Charlotta Inn -- to Loop Road. The stay there also proved to be fairly brief. The staff moved into the newly-constructed Pahrump Valley Times office at 2160 E. Calvada Blvd. in the spring of 1993, and in 1995 the press building was constructed, complete with a four-unit offset press. When the presses started rolling, it marked the first time production of the Pahrump Valley Times was completed -- start to finish -- without at least some of the work done in nearby Las Vegas. Two more units were added in 1997 and in 2000 a second set of press unites was added bringing the capacity of the Pahrump Valley Press to 8 full units. We're keeping up with the community, but it's a mad race every week -- even with a Wednesday edition that was launched in 1996 to go along with the Friday paper. The internet edition of the Pahrump Valley Times was established on April 16, 1999. In our first year on the worldwide web we received two million hits. |
