If Pahrump residents are in the mood for new shoes, Shoe Warehouse is just the ticket, and you don't have to make the trip to Las Vegas to shop.

Besides saving money on gas, patrons are likely to save money right down the street.

The store, managed by Laurene Leifer, just recently opened at 1520 E. Highway 372, Suite C, in Pahrump, and it carries big names at low prices.

Shoe Warehouse is a brand-name discount store offering something locals aren't used to seeing -- designer shoes for men, women and children available locally.

Footwear from names like Nike, Sketcher, DKNY and others are displayed on racks lining the walls. Sizes range from 4 to 11 in women's and 6 to 14 in men's. Styles covering work and play and casual to dressy are available.

The warehouse also carries Ed Hardy clothing and designs by Christian Audigler. There are T-shirts, hats, hoodie sweatshirts, scarves, belts, purses and carry-alls.

Leifer says the stock is ever-changing. Because the store operates as a warehouse, she doesn't really place an order. The store gets a new, pre-arranged shipment about every two weeks.

Different shoes from different manufacturers, and maybe the same shoe in a different size, could be in the stock shipped to her.

It's worth taking a peek a couple of times a month just to see what changed. The shoe you wanted, but found it wasn't available in your size, might have arrived with the last shipment.

To keep patrons coming back, the warehouse is running a special incentive -- buy four pairs of shoes and get the fifth pair free. Just save the receipts and take them with you to claim the free pair.

The prices are very reasonable. Right now, Croakies, those lightweight, clog-type shoes, are on sale for $2.99.

The sale rack has selections for $14.99 and nothing in the store sells for more than $39.95. The median price is $29.95 or less. Not bad for quality, name-brand footwear.

There is no room for backstock, everything they have is on the display racks.

The store policy accepts no returns or exchanges. Be sure the shoes fit before taking them home.

They accept cash, debit and all major credit cards.

At present, the hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday. As business increases, so will the hours of operation.
