Basin area traffic figures to be the issue this weekend, during the annual Pahrump Fall Festival.

On East Basin, Pahrump Valley Speedway will be in action Friday and Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. each day.

At McCullough Arena, site for most of the festival activities, there will be a three-day Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association event, with go-arounds slated at 8 p.m. Friday, 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

On the quarter-mile dirt oval at the speedway, there will be at least six classes of cars competing each night. And that does not include exhibition Figure-8 races during the intermissions.

On Friday, mini stocks, coupes, pro stocks, mini-modifieds, street stocks and bombers will be on the track. Saturday, there is a $1,000-to-win IMCA modified feature, with bombers, minis, mini-mods, pro stocks and street stocks also on the card.

The points leaders, for races through Sept. 12, are Anthony Finley, bombers, 148 points; Jonathan Burch, modified minis, 97; Frank Bridwell, coupes, 193; Robert Smotherman, modifieds, 176; John Burch and Anthony Broadhead, mini stocks, 182 points each; Pete Wallace, street stocks, 136; Mike Lysinger, pro stocks, 184 and Mark Dillie, Dwarfs, 140.

The rodeo will feature bareback, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc, tie-down roping and bull riding each day.
