Dual credit changes due to scheduling conflicts
Nye County School District officials think a request by Great Basin College to operate dual credit courses on a college schedule this fall is denying many high school students the opportunity to earn college credit at the same time as they attend high school.

Tour Around Nevada
Nevada Magazine, the publication published by the Nevada Department of Tourism, has been sponsoring a printed tour of Nevada's rural communities. The September/October issue features Pahrump and representatives from the magazine will be handing out copies of the bi-monthly tourist guide at the Fall Festival next weekend.

Town board will meet in annex Tues.
The Pahrump Town Board meets in the town annex at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 22. The change in venue is because the community center, where board meetings are normally held, is being set up for the Fall Festival displays.

Fraudulent checks that look as though they are issued by Flagstar Bank or Allstate Insurance are flooding into Pahrump and Las Vegas. They are also showing up in other cities throughout the US and Canada.

AMARGOSA VALLEY -- A delegation from the state engineer's office made the trip to the Amargosa Valley Community Center Monday, in an attempt to resolve numerous complaints from property owners in the Little Nevada subdivision about lack of access to water.
