Town officials did not set the schedule or venues for U.S. Sen. Harry Reid's visit.

The senator's staff made arrangements for all his stops in Pahrump, including the meeting at the town office with Kohbarger, town board members and county commissioners.

Reid held a press conference for Pahrump media and spoke to members of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars at the VFW hall, where he fielded questions.

The VFW was instructed by Reids's staff to close the meeting to all but those two groups.
