Daniel Timar Daniel "Danny" Timar, 54, passed away peacefully in Pahrump, Aug. 29, 2009. His courage showed grace and dignity during his battle with lung cancer. He was born Dec. 16, 1954, in Pecs, Hungary, where he served four years in the Marines. He came to America in 1985, eventually making his home at the Preferred RV Park in Pahrump. He was passionate about life, loved the outdoors and playing pool and volleyball. He loved helping his friends and was always there for them. He is survived by his aunt, sister, nieces, nephews and cousins in Hungary. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Memories of Danny and all who had the great fortune of knowing him will sustain us the rest of our lives. Services will be at 11 a.m., Sept. 5 at Lee Funeral Home to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice, Las Vegas. (08/29/2009) ![]() Joyce C. Harris Joyce C. Harris passed away Aug. 28, 2009, in her home, after a seven-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family members. She was born June 2, 1935, to William and Eva Cooper, in Cortez, Colo. Joyce spent much of her childhood in Oregon and California and graduated from Clover Park High School in Tacoma, Wash. After graduation, she attended business classes in the Tacoma area. In 1954, Joyce married Hollis Harris in Tacoma. She and Hollis lived in Fresno and then Five Points, Calif., before moving to Pahrump with son, Dan, in 1964. One of the early pioneers of Pahrump, Joyce worked at the Pahrump Cotton Gin and Floyd's Ace Hardware. She was one of the first volunteers for the Harvest Festival committee. Joyce and Hollis were developers of several subdivisions and Joycelyn Estates was named after her. Joyce was the bookkeeper for all the Harris family businesses, which included Harris Farms and Hollis L. Harris Realty. She was an avid reader of biographies and liked to travel and collect antiques. Joyce was a homemaker, great cook, baker of fine desserts and was a caregiver to family members during their times of need. Most of all, she enjoyed special times with friends and family. Her sense of humor and cheerful attitude will be missed by all. Joyce is survived by her husband of 54 years, Hollis Harris; son Dan (Trudy) Harris; brother Donald (Pam) Webster of Pahrump; sister Alice (Jim) Munson of Winnemucca; daughter Melanie Sternberg of Louisville, Tenn.; grandchildren Renae Gliddon, Emma, Ryan and Benjamin Sternberg, Jason Navarro and Joshua and Jordan Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Eva; brother Norman Cooper and sister Laverne Cooper. A celebration of Joyce's life will be at 10 a.m., Sept. 8, at the Pahrump Community Church on Wilson Road. In lieu of flowers, donations to Nathan Adelson Hospice or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. (08/28/2009) ![]() Henry Clay Snow Henry Clay "Hank" Snow, 91, of Abilene, Texas, died Aug. 30, 2009, in Flagstaff, Ariz. Born Aug. 19, 1918, in Coalgate, Okla., he was the son of the late Nellie Grace (Cochran) and Charlie Wilburn Snow. A United States Army veteran of World War II (1939-1945), he was stationed at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed and served in every major battle in the South Pacific. Hank married June Blue on Nov. 18, 1950, in Abilene. He was a test site department supervisor for Westinghouse for 27 years in Nevada. Hank had been a resident of Abilene, Texas, since 1988, where he was a member and deacon of Broadview Baptist Church, and a member of the Faith Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife, June Snow of Abilene; son Charles (Lori) Brandon, of Pahrump; foster-son, Tony (Candy) Enos of Phoenix, Ariz.; granddaughters, Renee Crain, Laura Mize and Jordan Simmons; five great-grandchildren, Joe Ayoub, Michael Ayoub, Zachary Crain, Amelia Crain and Evan Simmons; a nephew and three nieces. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Sept. 5, at Broadview Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Abilene directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He was born April 23, 1927, in Philadelphia, Miss., and was a resident of Pahrump for 29 years, having come from California. Art was a Navy veteran of World War II, from 1945 to 1946. He was the owner of Pahrump Nursery, and never retired. Art was of the Christian faith. He is survived by daughters Linda Aguirre, of Moreno Valley, Mary Horn of North Hollywood, Calif., and Martha Bathurst, of Norco, Calif.; sons Ernest Belk, of Pomona, Calif., and Arley Belk Jr., of El Paso, Texas; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m., Sept. 5 at Pahrump Family Mortuary Chapel. (08/14/2009) Floyd Righter Floyd Righter, 71, passed away Aug. 28, 2009. He was a longtime resident of Nevada and spent the last year and a half in Pahrump. Floyd served in the US Marine Corps and had a landscape irrigation business after having been in the construction industry for many years. He was loved, and will be missed very much. Surviving are his wife, Shirley; daughters Tracie McGuffie and Becky Bussineau of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sandy Ludwick of Las Vegas; sons Alan Righter of Phoenix and Charles Righter of Pahrump; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wilmer "Bill" Righter. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m., Aug. 31 at his home. (08/28/2009) ![]() Audrey Charlene Hintz Audrey Charlene Hintz, 75, passed away Aug. 28, 2009, in Las Vegas. She was born May 7, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wis., and was a resident of Pahrump for seven years, having come from Denver, Colo. She was a homemaker. Surviving are sons Andrew (Cathy) Taylor of Las Vegas, and Roger Taylor and Jeffrey (Christina) Hintz of Pahrump; daughter Roxeann (Dave) Kitchell of Aurora, Colo.; brother Edward (Patricia) Mason of Omro, Wis.; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son and a brother. Services will be private. (08/28/2009) |
