Charity poker at the Nugget

A poker tournament to benefit Nathan Adelson Hospice will be played Sept. 16 in the Pahrump Nugget.

Highlighting the event will be an appearance by Tom McEvoy, who won the 1983 World Series of Poker championship and claimed the Champion of Champions title in the 2009 WSOP, played at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in June.

The doors open at 5 p.m., with the tournament to start at 6; only 100 seats will be available for the event, to be contested in the Convention Center.

First place in the tournament will be a seat in a WSOP Academy program in Las Vegas, a $1,800 value. The buy-in will be $60 with $3,000 in chips at the start.

Add-ons will be included, with re-buys available at the first four levels. There will be raffles, door prizes and bounties on mystery guests.

Any business interested in sponsoring seats, tables or door prizes should contact Jeff Von Alst or Troy Tillet at the Pahrump Nugget poker room (751-6508).

The Nugget and Dr. Michael Reiner are holding the tournament.
