Calling all kids ...PVT
The Pahrump Arts Council (PAC) will present "Twas the Night Before Christmas" as a "re-spark" for the Performing Arts Division of children's theater and it is calling all kids ages 8 to 16 to audition for the musical play starting at 6 p.m., Nov. 5 in the Bob Ruud Community Center. The original Christmas play was written by Kathryn Schultz Miller, and the famous poem, "A Visit From St. Nicholas," was written by Clement C. Moore. In combination, the show, presented in two performances Dec. 12, is a fun-filled romp through a hear-warming tale of family love and playful friendship and will be staged at the Pahrump Nugget. The decision to kindle the Performing Arts with local talent stemmed from the popularity of the summer art camps for youth held over the summer and requests of PAC to fill the need for more children's plays and musicals. The Performing Arts Division will also take the place of the Missoula Children's Theatre, which has, in this economy, become difficult to finance. The Performing Arts is headed by PAC director Don Rust and former PAC president Rodney Camacho. Rust will be handling the theater portion for the adults and mixed cast and Camacho will concentrate strictly on children's plays and musicals. After auditions, the cast will start rehearsal the following week. Call 513-6569 or 727-6776 for more information. |
