Drone seeks Fields clues
Yesterday, beginning at 10 a.m., the Nye County Sheriff's Office began a new search for evidence in the disappearance of Maureen Fields, the Wells Fargo Bank teller who has not been seen since Valentine's Day 2006.

Engineers check out problem traffic areas
Two Nevada Department of Transportation engineers toured problem traffic areas in Pahrump Tuesday, escorted by a couple of members of the Pahrump Capital Improvements Plan Committee.

StageStop hosts vets benefit Nov. 7
For the past several years, the StageStop Lounge and Casino has been one of the places in town hosting a benefit for local veterans and this year, the event is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m., Nov. 7.

Pahrump population rebounds in third quarter
Pahrump gained 81 residents in the third quarter of 2009, increasing the population to 38,275, which is still 346 residents less than a year ago, according to estimates from the Nye County Planning Department.

The Pahrump Arts Council (PAC) will present "Twas the Night Before Christmas" as a "re-spark" for the Performing Arts Division of children's theater and it is calling all kids ages 8 to 16 to audition for the musical play starting at 6 p.m., Nov. 5 in the Bob Ruud Community Center.

Gibson files notice of appeal for Liakopoulos
Public defender Tom Gibson filed a notice to the Nevada Supreme Court Monday he will appeal the conviction of former Nye County Commissioner Peter Liakopoulos.

'49ers head for DV
The Death Valley 49ers left Pahrump Monday and, after spending this weekend as part of the Shoshone Old West Days celebration, will make their way to Furnace Creek, Calif., for festivities next weekend during the 60th Death Valley '49ers Encampment Nov. 4 through 8.

Nye fees may be waived
TONOPAH -- A resolution waiving permit fees for a solar hot water heater program by Valley Electric Association is on the agenda for the Nye County Commission meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Rodriguez named director of Pahrump Chamber
Dan Rodriguez, the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce president last year, who served as the interim executive director since Aug. 1 after Lucy Ivins left, has been named permanent executive director by the chamber board.
