![]() Mary Cantara Mary Louise "Wez" Cantara, 58, passed away Oct. 16, 2009, in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 11, 1951, in Vero Beach, Fla., and was a resident of Las Vegas for 47 years. Mary was the third of nine children born to the late Charleton and Joan Cantara. She graduated from Votech High School in 1969 and had been employed by the Review-Journal as a classified ad sales executive for 38 years. Wez enjoyed many things in life such as bowling, softball, golf and bingo. Her greatest joys came from spending time with her family and friends. No child, sister, brother or friend ever felt more love than that which Wez has given and shared. She is survived by her son, Dennis (Althea) Cantara; grandchildren Renee and Todd Cantara; siblings Joan Failing, Phyllis and Mike Bagan, Jean Bowers, Charleton and Barbara Cantara, Charlotte and Jerry Adams and Barbara Spencer; brother-in-law Tim Harrington; 15 nieces and nephews and 20 great-nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her lifetime friends Laura Hobbs, Dee Dee Lane and Denise Petito. She was preceded in death by sisters Patricia Cantara and Jane Harrington. A funeral Mass to honor her life, will be celebrated at 6 p.m., Oct. 23 at St. Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive in Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Foundation would be appreciated. (10/16/2009) |
