Community members wishing to weigh in on the location and design of the entrance to Last Chance hiking and equestrian park have another opportunity to make their opinions heard on Sunday from 1-2:30 p.m. at a public presentation at the Pahrump Nugget.

The day before, designers from the American Society of Landscape Architects will tour the locations selected by approximately 30 residents who participated in a Sept. 29 workshop in Pahrump, facilitated by representatives from the National Park Service Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program and by the National Forest Service.

Two concepts will be presented at Sunday's meeting. The drafts will be reviewed and next steps determined.

Several locations were selected at the workshop for the 10 acre site that will be owned and maintained by the town as an access and staging area to enter the remaining 1,500 acres owned by the Bureau of Land Management.

The first proposed site is near Bell Vista Avenue and Bannavitch Street with a possible alternative location near Simpkins Road and Bannavitch Street. The other general area is north, off Highway 160 near Roadrunner Road.

Some of the amenities workshop participants asked to be included in the 10- acre park entrance include a large parking lot where horse trailers can maneuver, a bathroom, defined areas with signs for points of interests, benches, a food center, hitching posts, a ranger station and increased ranger patrols of the area, shade and a water pump.
