Commissioners will discuss water boardPVT
Nye County commissioners have more items on the consent agenda for the 10 a.m. meeting Tuesday at the Bob Ruud Community Center than on the regular agenda. A couple of consent agenda items, which can all be approved in one motion, include participating with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in preparing an environmental impact statement for the Solar Millenium project in Amargosa Valley. Another would allow the county to enter into a cooperative agreement with the Nevada Department of Transportation to install center line rumble strips on the Bob Ruud Highway and Bell Vista Avenue. The Nye County Licensing and Liquor Board, which includes the county commissioners and Sheriff Tony DeMeo, will vote on issuing a brothel license for Angel's Ladies for Mack Moore, who wants to reopen the establishment just north of Beatty. Planning items up for approval include a tentative, residential subdivision map to divide 80 acres at 4751 W. Adkisson St. into 46 residential parcels and 12 open space lots where a conditional use permit allows exotic animals. A rezoning of lots in the business district east of Highway 160 between Basin Avenue and Oxbow Street is up for approval. Commissioners will hold a joint workshop with the Nye County Water District at 1:30 p.m. The topics include defining a role for the water district; identifying possible revenues; acquiring and managing water rights; policies regarding water use and water conservation; possible acquisition of utility systems; community drinking water quality and wells; possible implementation of well head protection plans and staffing. |
