The second annual Firehouse Fling will take over Tecopa, Calif., tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m. This year the goal is to raise enough money to fund drilling a well on the site designated for an Inyo County firehouse.

It will be a day-long event hosted by the newly remodeled Tecopa Hot Springs Resort.

Along with vendors and a chance to do some holiday shopping, there will be live music, a barbecue, lots of raffles and an auction.

Toni Kizzia, from the Southern Inyo Fire Protection District (SIFPD) said the music this year will be provided by local musicians and is headed up by George Ross and his daughter, Dixie, who have garnered their musical friends to volunteer the entertainment.

Mesquite grilled chicken and beef roast meals will be $10 per plate.

There is still room for vendors, with 10 by 10 spaces only $10 for the event. The group is looking for interactive booths for face painting.

Something novel will be a company making fired pottery on site.

The list of raffle prizes has been donated by businesses in Pahrump as well as Tecopa and Shoshone.

Raffle tickets will be $1 each or six for $5, and some items in the drawings are two-nights and golf at Furnace Creek in Death Valley; meals and goodies from the Crowbar Café, Pastel's Bistro, C'est si Bon, China Ranch, Quizno's, Tommasino's and Su Mesa.

Other raffles are for a weekend in Boulder City at Hacienda Casino, golf at Mountain Falls, oil changes, jackets, spa treatments, the list goes on.

On top of the raffles, an auction will be held for a five-burner propane grill, a weekend at Panamint Springs and a $50 food certificate; gift baskets from the winery and Death Valley Natural History Association; handcrafted items by local artisans, books, coupons - this list goes on, too.

The biggest ticket is a day at Spring Mountain Motorsport Ranch, worth about $1,200, and another prize of five "hot laps" at the driving facility.

Spending the weekend is an option. Accommodations include, camping in Shoshone and Tecopa, and rooms at Tecopa Hot Springs Resort, Delight's Hot Springs and Whiffletree Hall in Shoshone.

Inyo County shares 1200 square miles of Nevada border and, being in a rural area, are first responders and the only line of defense for fire, heart attack, injury and other maladies. The SIFPD recently acquired several pieces of equipment from Nye County.
