It's going to be another busy weekend as local businesses provide both the regular entertainment and try new things.

There are a couple of fundraisers happening this weekend and a couple of those are a little out of the way, but worth the trip.

* A Portrait of Patsy, a tribute show to the legendary lady of country music, will be at the Pahrump Nugget Events Center tonight starting at 7 p.m.

Joni Miller and her band After Midnight have been playing to sold-out crowds across the country for the last 15 years.

Tickets are $25 to $100 and include an open bar. Proceeds benefit No to Abuse.

Dan Rodriguez is an added attraction as he will entertain the audience before the show and during intermission.

Call the Nugget, 751-6500, or the chamber, 727-5800, for more information.

* In Goldwell, Albert's Tarantella will be tomorrow night starting at 7 p.m. Two musical ensembles will take the stage before mentalist Paul Draper gives a demonstration.

Scott Nygaard & Crow Molly perform contemporary string music and Killian's Angels is an all-girl Celtic band.

There will be coffee, gourmet desserts and an auction of unique art influenced by the Rhyolite area.

Proceeds benefit the Red Barn Art Center residency program.

Call 702-870-9946 to see if any tickets are available before you make the trip to Goldwell. This is the third year for Albert's Tarantella and it is usually sold out.

* The kids might enjoy the "Dungeon of Darkness" traveling spook show.

It opens at 8 p.m. tomorrow night at the Pahrump Valley Speedway. This will be the last chance to go through the haunts before the show moves to Dumont Dunes Oct. 29 through 31.

The cost is $10 for adults and $8 for children under 10.

* A new movie opens at Saddle West today. "Where the Wild Things Are" is rated PG.

The show times at Saddle West have changed. See the Entertainment Schedule in this section.

A couple of entertainment options are still happening in the area by the pool: Sunday, it's the Boltons; Friday is karaoke with Jimmy "V". All times are from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

* Kathy Bragg, owner of the Short Branch Saloon, will kick off her Christmas fundraiser to buy shoes and socks for children with a Pay-to-Play motorcycle ride.

On Saturday, businesses in Pahrump, Shoshone and Tecopa are stops along the route to a finish at the Short Branch where there will be entertainment, an auction and plenty of food.

Call 775-372-1717 for the details.

* Matt Reeves is back in town, this time it's not for a visit. He's recently become a resident of Pahrump again.

Reeves will play tonight and tomorrow night at the Maverick starting at 7 p.m. There will be no cover charge.

Reeves will play the Maverick two weekends a month.

* Mark the calendar for the Missoula Children's Theatre auditions scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Monday in the PVHS auditorium.

As is noted in the article in this section, because of the economy and grant funding, Missoula will not be offered again until further notice.
