BORASKY RECALL: Secretary of state denies appeal
The Nevada Secretary of State's office Wednesday denied Recalls R Us' appeal of its decision to strike 76 names from a recall petition on Nye County District 4 Commissioner Butch Borasky.

Gunman caught after second holdup at Rebel
Pahrump resident Vincent Matthew Czechorosky, 24, suspected of committing two convenience store robberies, was arrested early Wednesday morning after leading Nye County Sheriff's deputies on an extensive car chase that ended up in the playground parking area at Honeysuckle Park.


USFS road dispute reignites rebellion
AUSTIN -- Nye County District 1 Commissioner Lorinda Wichman traveled to Austin Wednesday to meet with Eureka and Lander County officials and a public lands attorney from Idaho to discuss how to proceed on appealing a new U.S. Forest Service travel management plan.

Airports benefit Nye
Stan Davis, vice-president of the Calvada Meadows Aeropark Association, remarked, "I don't think there's a town in the county except Pahrump that doesn't have a public access airport."

Fifty-two youngsters got free rides in small planes during the annual Young Eagles Fly-In held last Saturday at Calvada Meadows Airstrip.

'Iron Chef' showdown at Charlie's Place
Anyone who likes to cook and has access to cable or satellite television is bound to have seen "Iron Chef," the hour-long celebrity chef cook-off with the "secret ingredient." A live version of the TV show will be a spectator's sport at Charlie's Place, formerly Our Bar, starting at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

For the third year in a row, the Goldwell Open Air Museum and Red Barn Art Center will host Albert's Tarantella, an eclectic evening of celebration in honor of Belgian artist Albert Szukalski, who, known for his ghostly sculptures, created a full-scale Lord's Supper outdoor exhibit at the museum.

Patsy Cline tribute slated for Oct. 16
Patsy Cline was a legend in her own time and she is still a legend. The chance to see the tribute show, A Portrait of Patsy," presented by Joni Morris, will be at 7 p.m. next Friday, Oct. 16, in the events center of the Pahrump Nugget.

Outage affects 1,140 customers
A power outage that affected 1,140 Valley Electric Association members at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, around Basin Avenue and Blagg Road was caused by safety procedures that were deployed during a system upgrade.
