VFW calendar

The VFW on Homestead Road has an ongoing schedule of events.

Breakfast, 8-11 a.m., Sundays.

Panini special, Mondays, $6 plate.

Hamburger Night 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays, $6 plate includes salad or potato salad and chips.

Dinner, 5-7 p.m., Fridays, $7 eat-in and $7.50 carry out.

Swap meet, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., second and fourth Saturdays, $10 for space and table or $7 for just space.

Animal rescue fundraiser

West Star Old Dog Rescue will have an "After Christmas Sale Before Christmas," from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Dec. 5 at 780 Manse Road.

All Christmas items will be 75 percent off and many other items will be 50 percent off.

Family to Family Calendar

The center has moved to a new location at 621 S. Blagg Road, behind No to Abuse.

Summer hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The schedule for Family to Family Connection for November:

Nov. 30 -- When a Fetus Gets a DUI, 11 a.m.

Mondays -- Prenatal parenting class, 1-3 p.m.

Tuesdays -- Nurturing Parent class, 1-3 p.m., Spanish.

Wednesdays -- Nurturing Parent class, 1-3 p.m., English.

The resource lending library is open 8-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Farmer's Market

The Farmers market is open 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 28, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 12 and 19 at Petrack Park.

Homegrown produce, eggs, honey and arts and crafts will be available.

Fast Track program

The Nye County adult education program is offering GED testing and courses.

The GED test can be used to waive English, math, science and social studies electives depending on test scores.

Nevada High School Proficiency Exams with passing scores are a prerequisite, and the adult education offers those classes as well.

Democrat Central Committee

Nye County Democrat Central Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m., Nov. 30, in the Bob Ruud Community Center.

Plan to attend and bring a guest.

The group is taking canned food donations to be delivered to No To Abuse. Program funding has experienced deep cuts and the organization needs help.

Aktion Club shoe drive

Aktion Club, sponsored by Kiwanis, is holding a shoe drive for school children.

Take gently worn shoes in child sizes 12 through adult 9 to Kaye's Allstate (next to Albertson's), or CC's Beauty Zone (1231 E. Basin Ave., Suite 3). Call 727-9970 for more information.

Key Club needs vendors

The Pahrump Valley High School Key Club will hold its first holiday gift fair beginning at 8 a.m., Dec. 5.

Vendors are needed and space is limited.

All Peoples' Breakfast

The eighth annual All Peoples' Breakfast, sponsored by the Pahrump Nugget and Church of the Harvest is seeking community support to help fund the MLK Scholarship Fund. We need ads for the souvenir book, items to auction and gift baskets and certificates for use as door prizes.

Tickets will be $10 and will benefit the scholarship fund.
