Powerhouse wrestling

The Pahrump Powerhouse Youth Wrestling organizing has made a call for youngsters 5 to 13 years old to meet.

The first session was Tuesday, with suceeding meetings today and Thursday. The sessions are from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Pahrump Valley High School wrestling room.

RCMS basketball

The Rosemary Clarke Middle School basketball coaches have scheduled a preseason camp Dec. 2-3 in the Sharks' gym.

Each day, the boys will be in session from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., while the girls will go from 4:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Cost of the camp is $20 and must be paid in cash. The camp is open to current sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students interested in playing basketball for RCMS.

The camp is not mandatory, but it is the only warmup before tryouts, which are scheduled the following week. Contact Mr. Bennett to register early.

All participants must have a 2009-2010 physical examination, to be eligible to participate.

Roller hockey

Another registration session for the Pahrump Valley Roller Hockey League will be held Monday, at the Skate Zone.

The signup period will start at 5 p.m. Leagues will be formed by age groups, starting at 8 years old and up, including adults.

Leagues will start play at the Skate Zone on Dec. 7. Drew Witten of Big O Tires is the contact person.

Poker tourneys

An Adopt-A-Family charity poker tournament will be played Dec. 6 in the Pahrump Nugget Convention Center, starting at 1 p.m.

The entry fee is $50; $10 will go to the poker room for expenses, with $40 being divided equally between Adopt-A-Family and the players.

Valley Electric Association will sponsor elves, with bounties up to $500.

Players are asked to bring an unwrapped Christmas present; additional chips will be awarded to the players who bring a gift.

Needy families will benefit from the proceeds.

* The Pahrump Valley High School Athletics Boosters Club will benefit from a poker tournament, to be played today in the Pahrump Hotel and Casino convention center.

The no-limit hold'em tournament will start at 6 p.m., with 100 seats available. The buy-in will be $60, with $10 going to the poker room for expenses and the rest equally divided between the boosters club and the prize pool.

There will be add-ons and rebuys for the first hour. A raffle and door prizes are also scheduled.

Any business interested in sponsoring seats, tables or door prizes should contact Von Alst or Tillett at 751-6508, or booster club member Bob Gang at 727-8179, for information.

Tuesdays and Thursdays -- No-limit hold'em, $20 plus $3, 10:30 a.m.

At the Nugget

Sundays -- No-limit hold'em, $40, noon

Monday through Friday each week -- $25 no-limit hold'em tournaments, 11 a.m.

Mondays -- Ladies, $25, no-limit hold'em, 6 p.m.

Thursdays -- Omaha hi-lo split, $40, with rebuys, 6 p.m.

Wednesdays -- No-limit hold'em, $40, 7 p.m.

Sundays -- Omaha (pot limit, hi-low split, high), $30, 7 p.m.
