Richards' licenses could be revoked
The Nye County Licensing and Liquor Board is expected to review an order requesting Crystal brothel owner Joe Richards to show cause why his brothel and liquor licenses shouldn't be revoked sometime within the next 60 days, Nye County Chief Civil Deputy District Attorney Ron Kent said.

Eastley slashes Nevada Health Centers
Nye County Commission Chairman Joni Eastley accused Nevada Health Centers Inc. of requesting a change in operation to 40 hours per week instead of the Monday-Friday business hours specified in the contract to scale back operations at the Beatty and Amargosa Valley clinics to four days per week.


County will consider $5 million DOE grant to retrofit buildings
The submission of an application for a $5 million Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant through the U.S. Department of Energy for retrofitting buildings, will be under consideration when the Nye County Commission meets at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

VEA to resume heater installation
Valley Electric Association will resume its solar hot water heating program after resolving a dispute with Nye County officials over permitting and inspection requirements.

Sullivan retains position, Gerling replaces Lasorsa
BEATTY -- Teresa Sullivan will retain her seat on the Beatty Town Advisory Board, and Erika Gerling will fill the seat occupied by Mike Lasorsa.

No one matched all five numbers and the mega number in Saturday's drawing of the California Super Lotto. The next jackpot will be at least $27 million.

E911 center opens
"Golden," and "beautiful -- a long time coming" were words used by Nye County Sheriff's Office Lt. Frank Jarvis to describe Beatty's new enhanced 911 system.
