At 6 p.m. tomorrow, a special town board meeting is scheduled in the Pahrump town office conference room at 400 North Highway 160. There are two items on the agenda.

It will be decided whether or not the funding for the Pahrump Powwow will be granted by the town. The Powwow's treasurer, Paula Elefante, turned over an accounting for funds granted thus far, which was one of the board's concerns over granting additional money.

The town's tourism advisory board met today at 9 a.m. in special session to consider Elefante's grant request. The town board will vote upon its recommendation.

Web site

The board will discuss and possibly decide on a company to continue the development and maintenance of the town's Web site. In the running is one Pahrump firm, owned by Brian Shoemake.

The three previously selected out-of-state front runners are still viable choices and include American Eagle, Tower Innovations and Vision Internet, which had the most favorable comments by board members.

Seating is extremely limited.

TTY phone line

The town staff is looking into obtaining a TTY phone line to benefit hard-of-hearing residents. The subject originated with town board member Vicky Parker. TTY phones, some of which include printers, have voice recognition technology that translates spoken words to text.
