RSVP helps seniors stay independent and in their own homes as long as possible by offering rides to local doctors, dentist, library, the banks or shopping. Any driver over 55 is eligible for mileage stipend, up to $60 per quarter for volunteering to drive. Additionally, we enjoy a bi-annual volunteer appreciation awards dinner, our annual mid-winter get-together, training, T-shirts, and the best gift of all -- the sincere thanks of the person you have helped. * Respite Caregiver Program Are you a caregiver for a friend or a loved one? Do you need a break? If so, the RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) may provide the relief you need. We all know that a caregiver rarely gets time for their own basic needs and may feel isolated, lonely or frustrated. The RSVP Respite Caregiver Program provides mature, reliable people who will come to your home for a few hours at a time so you will be free to shop, bank, go to the library, visit a friend, attend church, get your hair cut or just go for a nice, long walk. * Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Many local seniors would love to hear from you. RSVP has a friendly Telephone Tree in Pahrump. It takes only a few minutes, once a week, to brighten the days of a senior who may live alone, who feels lonely or isolated, who may not have family living near. You can make a difference. Join us in helping our local seniors to feel like a part of the community. Volunteer with RSVP, call Jan Lindsay at 751-5282.
