Fifth annual Festival of Trees kicks off Nov. 22
BY CHARLENE DEAN
Nathan Adelson will kick off the fifth annual Festival of Trees Nov. 22 in the Pahrump Nugget Events Center. Business, individuals and organizations pick a tree or wreath to decorate. The seven-foot and six-and-a-half-foot trees are $500. The four-foot trees are $250 and wreaths are $100. The fun begins with the decorating party. The decorations will be on display until the Festival of Trees Gala scheduled for Dec. 5 The black-tie optional event features cocktails beginning at 6 p.m. While socializing, there will be a silent auction of items donated by area businesses. Some of the 60 items up for bid will be a pair of Chinese Foo Dogs made to adorn the exterior or a large foyer. There will be an entertainment basket with CDs, DVDs, books, snacks, candles, etc. An enormous food basket, which includes a seven-piece dish set, makin's for breakfast, desserts and dinner, among other things. C-Designs donated a basket for romance homey romance and Lennox crystal wine and champagne glasses will also be up for bid. Dinner will begin at 7 p.m. The accompanying wines are courtesy of Bill and Gretchen Loken, owners of Pahrump Valley Winery. Participants will dance to music provided by the Boltons, a brother and sister duo which has been performing for various events and in nightspots in the area for over a year. The emcee for the event will be Dan Rodriguez. A special raffle for three big-ticket items will add some suspense and the evening will culminate with the live auction of the decorated trees and wreaths. This is a huge fundraising event for Nathan Adelson, and the proceeds will help the nonprofit provide hospice care for area residents. Because Nathan Adelson will be celebrating 10 years of service to this community, the evening will recognize the many leaders and businesses which have supported the hospice efforts over the years. Tickets for the Festival of Trees Gala are $100 per person. To sponsor a tree or wreath and make reservations for the gala, call Tonya Brum, 751-5601 or 209-3896. |
