![]() Theodore W. Knight Theodore W. Knight, 54, passed away Oct. 26, 2009, in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 8, 1955, in Ohio, and was a resident of Pahrump for nine years, having come from Las Vegas. He worked as a general manager for a used car dealership and was a Chaplain working with inner-city youth in California. He is survived by his wife, Susie; parents Robert and Dorothy Capalbo, of Pahrump, and son Chris Miller of the San Francisco Bay area. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Knight. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Nov. 7 at Heritage Bible Church, on Heritage Drive off of Homestead Road. (10/26/2009)
John Peter John Peter, 78, passed away Oct. 31, 2009, in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 9, 1931, in Arctic Village, Alaska, and was a resident of Pahrump for four years, having come from Downey, Calif. He was the owner of 14 beauty salons in California. He went to Los Angeles , Calif., on the Indian Relocation Act Grant and became an electrician. He went to work as an immigration officer and an electrician in high-rise buildings throughout the Los Angeles area. After retiring, John met the love of his life, Sharon Jessup. They spent summers traveling in their RV and trips included Alaska, Canada, Nova Scotia and trips to Utah, Missouri and Florida. John took line-dancing classes with Sharon in Pahrump. He loved his dog, Truffles, his scooter and his club. He was a sensitive, caring, loving man and was a hero, mentor and icon to all who knew him. He was loved by scores of people and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. His ashes will be spread in his beloved Alaska. John is survived by his wife Sharon Peter of Downey, Calif.; brother Joel Peter, of Old Crow, Canada and cousins Adeline Kari, of Fairbanks, Alaska; Donald Peter, of Anchorage, Alaska; and Naomi Tritt, Kias Peter, Jim Peter, Hannah Flaherty, Kathy Sikorski, Steven Peter and Walter Peter, all of Alaska. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Peter and Tabitha KyKavihchik; and brothers Jeremiah, Jules, Ernest and Abraham Peter. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Nov. 10 at Oasis Outreach, on Second Street. The service will be followed by a potluck reception at the First Step Club, also on Second Street. In lieu of flowers, donations to his widow can be made. (10/31/2009)
Delbert Lee Craighill Delbert Lee Craighill, 81, passed away to be with his Lord Oct. 31, 2009. Delbert was born the third of five sons to Cora and Kenneth Craighill in Pueblo, Colo. He was raised in Veneta, Ore., attended Elmira High School and at age 40, attended Eugene Open Bible College in Eugene, Ore. Delbert worked in a plywood mill for years and once owned his own shoe repair shop. He retired as a custodian from the University of Oregon in 1990. Thirteen years ago, Delbert and his wife, Hope, retired to Pahrump. They were members of Trinity Assembly of God where Delbert was an usher for 11 years. Survivors include his wife, Hope; son Ernie Craighill; daughter Karen Williams; brothers Charles, of Eugene, Ore., Robert, of Elmira and Alvin, of Texas; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Delbert never met a stranger and was loved by all with his Christian witnessing. Interment will be in Eugene, Ore. (10/31/2009)
Charlene Elaine Ervine Charlene Elaine Ervine passed away Nov. 1, 2009, in her Pahrump home. She was born March 16, 1959, in Glendale, Calif. Charlene loved collecting stick pins and she had many. One of her greatest loves was for M&Ms. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Sie Ervine; sons Sie Van Ervine IV, and Shane Ervine, both of Pahrump, and Shawn and Scott Woolsety, both of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Michael Tortat. Charlene was dearly loved and we will miss her. Services will be private. (11/01/2009) Anthony Lee Codera Anthony Lee Codera passed away Oct. 31, 2009. He was born July 12, 1958 , in Lawton, Okla. Anthony attended elementary and middle school in Wertham, Mainz and Ansbach, Germany, as his father was stationed there while in the Army. He attended Leilahua High School in Wahiawa, Hawaii, and obtained his GED. Following high school, Anthony enlisted in the Army as an airplane dispatcher where he served from 1979 to 1981. He returned to Hawaii in 1981. While in Hawaii, Anthony became a carpenter and joined the Carpenters Union where he was a longtime member. He attended real estate school and obtained his realtor license. Anthony also attended truck driving school and became a licensed driver. He was proud to own a condo in Nanikuli, Hawaii, which he sold in 1999 to move to Las Vegas. Anthony was able to find odd jobs while in Las Vegas, despite his disabilities as he was a very smart and independent person throughout his life. Anthony is survived by his parents, Morris and Beatrice Codera; sisters Lynette Heaney and Leanna Mahuka and brothers Terry and Larry Codera. "As we come to a close o Anthony's life, I just want to say how proud and happy I am that Anthony was "saved" and came to know the Lord. Anthony attended Pahrump Community Christian Church every Sunday and also Bible study. Even though he had a short and difficult time on this Earth, I know deep in my heart that he is in a much better place now and the Lord called Anthony to be with Him. Anthony, rest in peace. Bethyl E. Gregg Bethyl E. Gregg, 79, passed away Oct. 31, 2009, in Pahrump. She was born July 15, 1930, in St. Michael, Neb., and was a resident of Pahrump for six years, having come from Denver, Colo. She work for many years in management and owned and operated a bar and restaurant. She loved bowling and was an avid sports fan. She also enjoyed politics and was a member of a local Red Hat chapter. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will live on in our hearts and memories. She is survived by her son Michael Kelly of Golden, Colo.; daughters Sharon LeViseur of Pahrump, Janet Berger of Denver and Marsha Baker of Las Vegas; brothers Don Schlund of Battle Mountain, Richard Schlund of Wyoming and Bradley Schlund of Parker, Colo.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Leona Schlund and sisters Gloria Pollini and Barbara Wilson. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nye County Animal Shelter would be appreciated. (10/31/2009) |
