Something different is happening in the larger space of the Pahrump Nugget Events Center starting at 3 p.m. Nov. 15.

That will be the place to find wine lovers learning about pairing food and wine, discussing the character of those wines and sampling four courses created and specially prepared by Chef Bill for this event. There will be room to move around and socialize.

The courses will consist of lightly sautéed scallops and shrimp in a buttery scampi sauce, fresh fruit over a bed of peppery arugula drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette, oven roasted whole sirloin, sliced thin and topped with a green peppercorn sauce and a variety of delectable desserts including red velvet cake and two kinds of chocolate.

Food service stations will open one at a time to showcase each dish individually. Servers will pour for guests at the table and provide service at the stations.

The tasting will be hosted by the PVT's Charlene Dean, and participants will discuss each wine in terms of varietal, and how terroir and climate affect them. Jeff Rathjen has, in consideration of the economy, discounted the wines well below normal, and they will be available for purchase by the bottle or by the case or mixed case just in time for the Holidays.

Reservations are necessary. Tickets are $30 per person. For reservations and more information, call 775-751-6500.
