The Pahrump Valley Times wants to know about your event. Tell us if you're having a concert, live music, outdoor movies, parties, art shows etc., and we will help you make it known. HDSIFF at the Nugget The High Desert Shorts International Film Festival will be held from 4:30 p.m. Nov. 5 and continue Nov. 6 and 7 at the Pahrump Nugget. Competitors this year are from all over the world. Many filmmakers will be in attendance to answer audience questions. Admission for all sessions is free. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony Nov. 7. The viewing schedule is available at www.highdesertshortsiff.com. Ash Meadows day trip Red Rock Canyon Interpretive Association will conduct a day trip to Ash Meadows Wildlife Refuge Nov. 7. The oasis contains springs, streams, and species of plants and animals found nowhere else on earth. The refuge staff will guide participants to see the endangered pupfish, visit two springs, take a short hike and learn why we need to protect endangered species.
