Pike wins mod main at DVR

IMCA modifieds raced Saturday night at Death Valley Raceway, which will close the first half of its season on the one-third mile dirt oval May 30, starting at 7:30 p.m. Competition will resume Sept. 12.

AMARGOSA VALLEY -- Jason Pike outraced Todd Nunnally to the checkered flag Saturday, to win the IMCA modified feature at Death Valley Raceway.

In the first night racing of the 2009 season on the one-third mile dirt oval, Teri Little was third, with Jim Maddox fourth and Jeff Mitchell fifth in the IMCA race.

Stacey Stinson was first in the mini-stock main, with G Verne second and Cory Ray third.

Completing the field were John Burch, Susan Smotherman, Cassandra Martin, Mike Lysinger and Chris Eckhardt.

In the super stock feature, Dan Snowden prevailed, with Skip Henderson second and Pete Wallace third.

Lysinger, Jim Pike, Ron Dove and Anthony DeBiase completed the grid.

Robert Pearson won the cam coupes main, with Hiser second and Steve Figgins third.

Preliminary winners were Little, Lysinger, Snowden, Figgins, Ray, Burch and Stinson.

The track will have its final spring race May 30, starting at 7:30 p.m. and featuring the mini stocks, super stocks, modifieds, Dwarf cars, couples and micro sprints.

After summer break, Death Valley Raceway reopens Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Other fall races will be Sept. 26 (7:30 p.m.), Oct. 10 (1 p.m.) and Oct. 24 (1 p.m.).
