Andrew Robert Tomaro Jr. Andrew Robert "Crazy Bob" Tomaro Jr., 76, passed away May 6, 2009, at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 30, 1932, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Andrew and Pauline Tomaro, and was a resident of Pahrump for 30 years, having moved here in 1979. He leaves behind a piece of his heart with son Danny (Carol); grandson Danny Jr. (Jordan); granddaughters Sammy Jo and Aaliyah Marie; great-granddaughter Averie Lynn; sisters Jean (Jim) Stauffer, Elaine (Kenny) Rouda, Fran (Chuck) Stull and Tootie (Chuck) Meier; nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Tony Tomaro. He was cremated and no services are scheduled. (05/06/2009) Lida Jane Joeckel Lida Jane "Janie" Joeckel, 83, passed away May 7, 2009, in Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville, Ore. She was born April 7, 1926. She was raised and schooled in Kendrick, Idaho, and graduated from high school there. She resided in Spokane, Wash., for several years and then lived in Oregon and Montana. She moved back to Oregon in 1973. In Oregon, she moved to Lafayette and moved to McMinnville in 1988. She is survived by daughters Cheryl M. Lindhe of Charlotte, N.C., Teresa Lee Tankersley of Talent, Ore., Jo Merlene (Mike) Conaway of Willamina, Ore., Renee Marie Joeckel and Lynn Ann (Chuck) Bluder both of Pahrump; grandchildren Leesa Hughes, Lee and Tammi Willis, Mary Miller, Paul Vait, Rachael Salsbury, Sandie M. Reeves, Randy Wite, Aaron Burnett and Valerie and Billy Joeckel; 11 great-granddaughters; 11 great-grandsons; one great-great granddaughter and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by sons John Carroll and William Allen Joeckel; cousins Rand and Connie Jo Sandgray; loving friends Janet Dunstam, Monday, Margie, Debbie, Carol, Sue Ann, the Torgeson family and others. On behalf of Mother and the grandchildren, we want to thank the doctors and nurses and caregivers who took care of Mom at the hospital and at her residence over the past few years; per our mother's wishes. To the people of the LDS Church who were so kind to do things for her and visit with her, thanks so much to all of you. Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. May 16 at Macy's Funeral Home in McMinnville. (05/07/2009) Jessie Irene Gutbrodt Jessie Irene Gutbrodt, 78, passed away May 12, 2009. She was born July 29, 1931, in Upton, England, and was a resident of Pahrump for 12 years, having come from California. Jessie was a devoted wife and mother, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was married to Charles Gutbrodt who passed away in January of this year. Jessie is survived by her sister Joy; daughter Kim; sons David and Charlie; grandson Bryce and many good, longtime friends. There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. May 23 in the Masonic Temple on Gemini Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice or the American Cancer Society. (05/12/2009) ![]() Elizabeth Valentine-Meffard Elizabeth "Betty" Valentine-Meffard, 81, passed away May 2, 2009, in Pahrump. She was born Oct. 4, 1927, in Alexandria, Va., and was a resident of Pahrump for 16 years. She worked in property management in Southern California before moving to Pahrump. She is survived by her children Laura Jarvis, Pat Martinez and Bill Valentine, all of Pahrump, and Heather Nelson-Lane; her only surviving sibling, sister, Twila Jean Thornton; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Services were at 11 a.m. May 7 at Lee Funeral Home. (05/02/2009) Arnold Lee Hunley Arnold Lee Hunley, 78, passed away May 17, 2009, in Pahrump. He was born June 20, 1931, in Kentucky, and was a resident of Pahrump for 18 years, having come from California. He was self-employed and of the Christian faith. He is survived by his wife, Anita Hunley of Pahrump; daughters Teresa (Robert) Blosser of Pahrump and Cheri (Bruce) Green of California; sister Maxine Saylor of Kentucky; brother Terry Hunley of Kentucky; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Hunley, two daughters and his parents. A viewing will be at noon, May 22, followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Pahrump Family Mortuary. Burial will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice. (05/17/2009) Richard C. Ryckman Richard C. Ryckman, 77, passed away May 5, 2009, in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 15, 1931, in Redondo Beach, Calif., and was a resident of Pahrump for more than three years, having come from Carson, Calif. He served his country in the Air Force from 1947 until 1952, and then in the Army as a corporal of the Civil Air Patrol and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He served on the police commission in Burbank, Calif., and was a doctor of chiropractics. He was a cameraman for 60 Minutes and employed by CBS for 25 years. He retired in 1995. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, The Elks and the American Legion. His faith was Morman. He is survived by his best friend Betty Barnes of Pahrump. His mother, Bessie Wright and father, Floyd M. Ryckman preceded him in death. Burial will be at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Services are pending. (05/05/2009) ![]() Gregory Zweber Gregory Zweber, 69, passed away May 12, 2009, at his home, after a short battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 5, 1939, in Farmington, Minn., and was a resident of Pahrump for 10 years, having come from Prior Lake, Minn. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was self-employed most of his life; having owned two hardware stores in Iowa and North Dakota, and a cleaning service in Minneapolis, Minn. He married his high school sweetheart, Harriet Stienhaur Sept. 20, 1958, and raised three children. He dearly loved all his family and friends and will truly be missed by all, including his three dogs, Spenc, Buddy and Cody. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Harriet of Pahrump; son Craig of Minneapolis; daughters Cheryl (Larry) Labrecque and Sharon Zweber, both of Pahrump. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Ermina; sister, Corine Eischens and brother, John. A celebration of his life was held May 17 in his home and a future service will be held in Minnesota. Any donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice. (05/12/2009) Robert Reagle Robert Reagle, 92, passed away April 19, 2009, in Amargosa Valley. He was born Feb. 24, 1917, in Stevensville, Mont., and was a resident of Amargosa Valley for 20 years, having come from Las Vegas. He grew up in Salmon, Idaho with two younger brothers. He was a dairy rancher and long-distance truck driver for many years before moving to Las Vegas in 1964 to go to work at the Nevada Test Site, where he was a miner, laborer and driver. He retired in 1980. His wife, Marie Reagle of Amargosa Valley; brother and Benjamin Reagle of Salmon, Idaho; sons Ronald Reagle of Houston, Texas, and Larry Reagle of Lewisville, Idaho; one foster daughter in Las Vegas; three stepchildren in New Mexico and two stepchildren in Las Vegas; 33 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren survive him. He was preceded in death by his son, Bill Reagle; daughter Glenda and brother Leonard. Services are private. (04/19/2009) |
