The first tournament is at noon Saturday, with a buy-in of $175. The payoffs will be based on 20 players. The second tournament will be May 23. At Club MVC

World Series of Poker qualifying tournaments are now underway at Club MVC in the Mountain View Casino.

Players will pay a $70 entry fee, for which they will receive $5,000 in chips. Complete rules are available at Club MVC. Players can pre-register for tournaments.

Darcie Eilert and Debbie Dellett qualified for the May 27 finals, in the first WSOP prelimary tournament Saturday.

With 10 women entered, Carl Lynn Hopkins won the event, but because she will be out of town finals week, Hopkins withdrew, which elevated Eilert and Dellett.

A women's qualifier was played Thursday, with others scheduled Tuesday, (2 p.m.), Thursday (5 p.m.), and May 23 (11 a.m.).

The ladies final May 27 will start at 7 p.m., with the winner qualifying for a WSOP event June 7.

Larry Weese and Don McDermott won in a pair of qualifying tournaments Wednesday, with Arthur Page and Andy Franzen finishing second in the single-table shootout format. A total of 13 players competed in the event.

Another men's tournament will be played today at 7 p.m., with others slated Saturday (11 a.m.), Tuesday (7 p.m. and May 22 (7 p.m.).

The final tournament is May 30 (1 p.m.), with the winner qualifying for a WSOP event June 11.
