Man busted for attempted murder in Shoshone

SHOSHONE, Calif. -- David Eddy, 59, has been taken into custody for attempted murder.

Inyo County sheriff's deputies said he drove his Dodge Magnum smack into another Shoshone resident's home over the weekend.

"Eddy had been served with an eviction notice for the Shoshone Trailer Park earlier that day," the sheriff's department reported May 12.

When deputies arrived at the victim's residence, Eddy was reported to be wielding a large knife, but he was taken into custody without incident.

Just before Eddy rammed his car into the victim's house, the sheriff's department reported, it had received a call saying he was "wandering through the Shoshone Trailer Park with a knife, stating that he was going to kill everyone."

In the event, said the public information officer Carma Roper, Eddy "opted to return to his fifth wheel, deciding not to kill everyone in the trailer park, but rather narrow his focus on eliminating the couple responsible for his eviction."

Eddy got behind the wheel of his 2005 Dodge and drove head-on into the victim's house.

The unidentified couple was home at the time but was not seriously injured.

Eddy was booked into the Inyo County Jail and is being held under $500,000 bail.
