1-A teams at Moapa Valley today

OVERTON -- Tonopah, Round Mountain and Beatty track teams take one more shot at improving their performances, with the Southern Nevada Class A regionals coming up on the Moapa Valley High School oval next weekend.

The Grant Bushman Invitational starts at 2 p.m. today here.

Last weekend, it was the Richard Lewis Invitational, with the Muckers, Knights and Hornets in action.

The teams didn't have any winners, with Beatty's Anthony Turner third in the 400-meter dash in 0:52.47 the best performance by a boy.

Katreena Akers of Round Mountain was second in the triple jump at 31 feet, 7 1/4 inches. She was fifth in the high jump at 4-6 and sixth in the long jump at 14-5.

Tonopah's Sara Ayers was sixth in the 100 (0:13.6) and ninth in the 200 (0:29.74). Beatty was third in the 4x400 relay in 4:58.07.
