LAS VEGAS -- Pahrump Valley's slim hopes of claiming a Sunset Region playoff berth were crushed Tuesday, when the Lady Trojans fell 12-2 to homestanding Bonanza in a Southwest fast-pitch softball game.

A sweep of their final two games and a combination of other factors could have moved Pahrump Valley into the No. 4 Southwest playoff berth. The Bengals, however, were having none of those possibilities.

Brittany Spencer went 2-for-4 with a triple and three runs batted in to help the Bengals beat the Trojans in six innings. Emily Osborn, Alex Teed, Aimee Doyle and Nicolette Lind had three hits each for Bonanza.

Becca Gamble and Taylor Ball had two hits each for Pahrump Valley. Coach Rich Lauver's team was 6-9 in the division and 10-17 in all games when it faced visiting Spring Valley, Thursday.

Elsewhere in Southwest softball:

Desert Oasis 11, Western 0 -- At Desert Oasis, Morgan Hughes pitched a five-inning one-hitter and the Diamondbacks clinched a Sunset Region playoff berth in its debut season. Hughes struck out six and walked one, allowing only an infield single in the first inning as the Diamondbacks improved to 10-5 in the Southwest, 12-20 in all games.

Durango 12, Sierra Vista 2 -- At Durango, Samantha Juarez hit two home runs and a double, scored three runs and knocked in four to lead the Trailblazers past Sierra Vista. Ashley Hall pitched a three-hitter and struck out six.

The possible first-round Sunset softball playoff pairings, based on standings through Wednesday, are:

* No. 1 Southwest Durango, 15-1, vs. No. 4 Northwest Arbor View, 19-14;

* No. 2 Southwest Bonanza, 27-6, vs. No. 3 Northwest Cimarron-Memorial, 21-9;

* No. 3 Southwest Clark, 17-11, vs. No. 2 Northwest Centennial, 22-7, and

* No. 4 Southwest Desert Oasis, 12-20, vs. No. 1 Northwest Shadow Ridge, 22-10.

The Sunset regionals will be played May 12-13-14-15 at the Stephanie Lynn Craig fields in Henderson.
