Master Gardener open house

PVT

The Pahrump Master Gardeners will hold the annual open house 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow.

Home gardeners may learn what can and cannot be grown in the valley and get information about what bedding plants, annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs will do well here.

Gardeners will be able to attend numerous demonstrations to help them with planting in containers, pruning, how to grow root crops, worms, drying flowers, how to set up irrigation systems, mulching and herb gardening.

There will be a presentation for those who might want to join the Master Gardeners Program.

The Web site http://www.unce.unr.edu/programs/sites/mastergardener/southern will explain the training and volunteering program to help those interested earn the title of Master Gardener.

There will also be information available on participating in this year's farmer's market held in the parking area at the Bob Ruud Community Center each summer.

This will also be the time to learn about the Giant Pumpkin Contest.

The Master Gardener open house will be held in the demonstration garden at 1651 E. Calvada Blvd.

Call Diane Herndon for special accommodations or assistance, 727-5532.
