How Pahrump Valley track athletes rank
Pahrump Valley will compete in the Sunset Class 4-A Track and Field Championships at Del Sol High School in Las Vegas today, Friday and May 15. The highest-ranked Trojans are: * Boys triple jumper Alex Anderson, who has a Sunset-best effort of 44 feet, one-half inch longer than the 43-11 1/2 hop, skip and jump of Palo Verde's Sidney Hodge. Ranked third at 43-5 is Legacy's Kareli Oliver. Anderson's best long jump is 19-6 1/2 and ranks 16th. * Girls shot putter Ashley Rencher is just 3 1/2 inches behind Legacy freshman Avion Allgood. Rencher's best throw is 42-2 1/2, while Allgood is at 42-6. Rencher is second in the discus at 129 feet, with Allgood's best effort at 136-10. Nick Stearns has the second-highest pole vault in the Sunset at 12 feet, 1 inch.
