SUNSET 4-A TRACK Speed: Name of the game for Western teams

LAS VEGAS -- Western's boys and girls figure to dominate the Sunset Regional Class 4-A Track and Field Championships, which begin at 3 p.m. today at Del Sol High School. Look at the facts: According to statistics released Sunday by the Southern Nevada Track Coaches Association, Western is ranked No. 1 in 12 events, including: * The girls 100-meter dash (Tiarra Tyler, who ran a 0:11.84 this spring); * Boys 100 (Arron Harris, 0:10.64); * Girls 200 (Antoinette Garrett, 0:22.89); * Girls 400 (Unique Conner, 0:55.79); * Girls 800 (Ansherae Devine, 2:13.24); * Girls 4x100 (0:47.17, Tyler, Conner, Garrett, Loren Jackson); * Boys 4x100 (0:41.58, Harris, Thomas Johnson, Marquin Austin, Adrian Brown); * Girls 4x200 (1:41.43, Garrett, Jackson, Tyler, Jade Pavageau); * Boys 4x200 (1:27.72, Harris, Brown, Anthony Garrett, Austin); * Girls 4x400 (3:51.87, Megan Keys, Garrett, Conner, Devine); * Boys high jump (6 feet, Anthony Garrett); * Boys shot put (51-9, Donte Perry).
