Trojan golfers to host Class 4-A regionals

With the Sunset Class 4-A regional tournament to start a week from today, Pahrump Valley closes the regular season Thursday at Primm, with the Trojans playing their Southwest Division rivals.

Qualifying for the regionals would be a big deal for the Trojans, since they are hosting the final round for both the Sunset and Sunrise tournaments May 14. The regionals will start May 13 at The Badlands (Sunset) and Dragon Ridge (Sunrise) in Las Vegas and conclude May 14 at Mountain Falls in Pahrump.

The state tournament is May 20-21 at the Red Hawk Lakes course in Sparks.

The Trojans, coached by Bob Hopkins, are third in the Southwest, averaging 420.6 strokes per 18 holes. Las Vegas Bonanza is first at 411.4, with Bishop Gorman at 416.4.
