Chicken Ranch comes out for brothel taxSPECIAL TO THE PVT
Monday, March 23, Senate Bill 369 was introduced in the Nevada State Legislature by State Sen. Bob Coffin, D-Las Vegas. The two main provisions of this proposed new state law would be to, one, place a $5 tax on those involved in providing legal prostitution services in Nevada and, two, set up a counseling agency through the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation to aid sex workers. Following is a statement from the Chicken Ranch brothel, said Fisher & Associates Inc., which expresses its views on the proposed legislation: "The Chicken Ranch, a legal licensed brothel, applauds Senate Taxation Chairman Bob Coffin on introducing SB369, which addresses taxing prostitution. "The Chicken Ranch believes a legal, regulated, licensed and taxpaying brothel is the best environment for women who choose prostitution as their occupation. "The criminal enterprise of illegal prostitution operating in Las Vegas is a detriment to the prostitute, customer and community and avoids taxation at a cost to taxpayers. "We appreciate Sen. Coffin's courage in addressing this issue." Fisher & Associates Inc. serves as public relations counsel to the Chicken Ranch. |
