Raymond and Caryl Elgin

Raymond "Ray" and Caryl Elgin will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary March 28, 2009.

The couple met in December 1948, and after only three months together, were married March 28, 1949, in Hernando, Miss. Ray was 18 and his bride was 14.

Their first child was born when Ray was 19 and Caryl was 15.

They have four children; Raymond Elgin III, Sue (Bob) Beatty, Terry Elgin and Rowan (Melode) Elgin..

The couple will celebrate with a family dinner cooked by Caryl who "wouldn't have it any other way."

The couple, their children and spouses, grandchildren Heather, Destiny, Noah, Adam and Emily and great-grandchildren Alyssa, Ella, Skyla and Bryce will attend the gathering.

Ray said the secret to his long and enjoyable married life is the couple was, "young enough not to forget but to forgive."

Ray is employed by Walgreen's Option Care and Caryl is a homemaker.
