DARE searching for community sponsorsPVT
Sheriff Anthony L. DeMeo of the Nye County Sheriff's Office is hosting the Nevada DARE Officer's Association (NDOA) annual state training conference here March 30 through April 1. The mission of the NDOA is to promote the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program in Nevada, and to build community partnerships with citizens. The continuing mission is to further prevention measures in order to educate youth about the dangers and harmful effects of drugs and violence and provide students with skills to make better choices in living an informed drug- and violence-free life. DARE America requires all DARE officers receive minimum training standards to maintain their certification as instructors. The NDOA takes a leading role in providing training and resources for Nevada state law enforcement agencies. As a result, officers are able to contract an agreement between their agency and local school districts to instruct young people to avoid the dangers and harmful effects of drugs and violence. The conference is open and made available to educators and all social network groups in Pahrump and throughout the state. NDOA is teaming with the Pahrump Chamber of Commerce to call on local citizens, business owners and all community investors to assist the NDOA prevention measures through sponsorships for all activities during the conference. There are numerous events needing sponsorships. An NDOA golf Tournament will take place March 30. A variety of donations are needed and range from $100 per hole to $1,800 for the event. March 31, a luncheon host is needed, as well as sponsors for the Graduate and Family Bowling Tournament at the Pahrump Nugget. April 1, the events are the awards banquet luncheon and a poker tournament, also to be held at the Pahrump Nugget. Since raffles for prizes will be held throughout the training conference, prize items are needed. An auction is also planned as part of the conference. All donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be available on request. Direct all questions and offers of help and donations to the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce, 727-5800, or Don Boulden, the NCSO Division of Special Services officer, 209-3846. |
