MONDAY Beatty girls in Class A setbacksNEVADAPREPS.COM
INDIAN SPRINGS -- Tessa Lounsbury's leadoff home run in the bottom of the eighth inning of the second game allowed the homestanding Thunderbirds to sweep Beatty's Lady Hornets 3-2 and 6-5 in Nevada Class A Central Division fast-pitch softball Monday. The games were the first for Beatty this spring. Brandi Bryl, the winning pitcher in both games, also homered in the nightcap. Bryl tossed a one-hitter in the opener, and Indian Springs scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the win. Jerilyn Frohlich scored the winning run on a groundout. HR-IS--Bryl, Lounsbury. -- Gorman romps In a Sunset Region Southwest Class 4-A baseball opener at Cashman Field, Las Vegas Bishop Gorman routed Clark 29-3 Monday. Jeff Malm was 4-for-4 with a home run and six runs batted in to lead the Gaels to a five-inning rout of the Chargers. Joey Rickard was 2-for-5 with five RBIs and four runs, Neil Lawhorn was 5-for-5 with four RBIs and four runs and Erik Van Meetren was 3-for-3 with four runs and one RBI for Gorman. Clark played at Pahrump Valley Tuesday in the Trojans' Southwest opener.
