Pahrump Valley's track team is at home today, running against Sunset Region Southwest Class 4-A Division rivals Durango and Desert Oasis, starting at 3 p.m.

The Trojans are coming off a sweep of boys and girls titles in the Louise Heitkotter Invitational at Faith Lutheran in Las Vegas Saturday.

Coach Andy Schneider's teams go to Del Sol High School Friday and Saturday for the prestigious Las Vegas Invitational. Freshmen and sophomores are featured Friday, with upperclassmen in the spotlight Saturday at Del Sol, which will be the site for the 2009 Nevada State Track and Field Championships in May.

Pahrump Valley's girls outpointed Faith Lutheran 210-142, while the Trojan boys edged the host Crusaders 160.5-123.

Nye County teams Beatty, Tonopah and Round Mountain also competed. Beatty's girls had 46 points for sixth place; Round Mountain had 16.5 and Tonopah 13. Beatty's boys, led by record-setting Anthony Turner, were ninth with 27.5 points, while Tonopah had 23.5 and Round Mountain 5.

Turner set a Beatty record in the 400-meter dash, winning in 0:51.9 seconds. In that race, he edged Pahrump Valley's Sergio Castro, second in 0:52.0.

McKenzie Dean won three distance events while Ashley Rencher swept the shot put and discus to lead the Trojans to the girls team title at the Heitkotter Invitational at Faith Lutheran.

Dean was first in the 800- 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs.

She was first in the 800 in 2:34.1, the 1,600 in 5:54 and the 3,200 in 13:08.1, almost a minute ahead of her nearest competitor.

Pahrump Valley's Ashley Lindgren won the 200 (28.9) and 400 (1:03.0). The Trojans also finished first in the 3,200 relay.

Nick Stearns swept the hurdle events to help the Trojan boys claim the title. Stearns won the 110 hurdles in 17.1 seconds, and took the 300 hurdles in 45.2.

PVHS's Alex Anderson won the triple jump (41-10), and the Trojans also won the 1,600 and 3,200 relays.

* Green Valley's boys won three field events on Friday night on the way to the team title at the Ron Resler Invitational in Boulder City.

Green Valley's Bryann Artmann won the pole vault, clearing 14 feet, 7 inches.

Arion Molinaro took the discus with a throw of 139-2, and Brigham Tauteoli won the shot put with a throw of 50-2 for the Gators, who finished with 125.9 points.

Arbor View (118.22) was second and Foothill (72.81) third.

Sierra Vista's Edred Utomi won the long jump (20-2) and 110-meter hurdles (15.1 seconds).

In the girls meet, Michaelanne Laurent won the 800 and 1,600 to lead Coronado to the team title with 112 points.

Foothill (106.5) was second and Arbor View (97) third.

Laurent won the 800 in 2:21.38 and took the 1,600 in 5:20.68.

Emily Kashka cleared 10 feet to win the pole vault for the Cougars, who also won the 1,600 relay.

Arbor View's Candice McFarland won the 100 hurdles (15.85) and 300 hurdles (47.86).
