TECOPA, Calif. -- This is the perfect time to enjoy the drum and dance retreat to be held once again at Tecopa Hot Springs.

The retreat will be held at the Tecopa Hot Springs Resort, the home of the popular star-gazing parties many of us enjoy throughout the year.

Instruction at the retreat will be provided, once again, by Daja Mitchell.

Her credits include a bachelor of science degree in modern dance from Utah State University and include more than 10 years of experience teaching African dance classes throughout the Southwest.

The all-level dance course is Saturday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and is followed by the drum class (drums provided) from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m.

Price is $25 per class or $40 for both.

Sunday, if you decide to stay over, there will be a Labyrinth walk and breakfast in the morning. Lodging, including camping and RV camping, is available at the resort.

This also happens to be the star-gazing weekend, so you can view the visible planets and galaxies through the 28-inch telescope on site.
