Sunset Region Southwest Class 4-A Division baseball and fast-pitch softball action begins Monday for Pahrump Valley.

The Trojans will open at home against Las Vegas Clark, with both games starting at 3:30 p.m.

The baseball team is 2-4 this spring, after senior righthander Mike Gonzalez withstood several challenges Wednesday to earn a 3-2 come-from-behind victory against visiting Henderson Liberty.

The Lady Trojans fell to 3-3 as Liberty used six PVHS errors to score nine unearned runs in a 10-7 win.

The Trojans' K.J. Jasperson went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored to help the Trojans prevail in baseball. Gonzalez, a former Liberty player, went the distance with 13 strikeouts. The key hit in a two-run sixth-inning rally was a double by Casey Clendenen.

Liberty had the tying run on in the seventh, but Gonzalez, who had surrendered 10 hits, got out of still another crisis.
