The 15th annual Quarter Auction raised an estimated $12,000 Saturday, benefitting the Pahrump Valley Youth Golf programs.

More than 300 people participated in the auction, held in the convention center at the Pahrump Nugget Hotel and Casino.

The Pahrump Valley High School golf programs have benefitted the most from this fund-raiser, producing five state championship girls teams and an always competitive boys squad.

Each year, the Pahrump Valley Youth Golf Founders Scholarship Fund has produced a $5,000 award for a Trojan golfer. More than $130,000 in scholarships have been awarded. The Founders Club, as an organization, was inducted last fall into the Pahrump Valley Athletics Hall of Fame.

The 2009 Founders Club officers are Larry Goins, president; Elaine Goins, executive director; Julie Floyd, treasurer and executive board members Robert Worden, Bob Hopkins and Sarah Hopkins. Board members are Jeff and Shanda Hammar, Gary and Lynn Keller, Sharon Tate and Michele Worden.

Past scholarship winners are Peggy Dohlen, Paul Giannotti, Mike Sluder, Stacy Davy, Rich King, Jimmy Trummell, Stacy Watson, Chad Goins, Hannah Nilson, Alaine Garrett, Justin Blakeley, Lori Hopkins, Jason Holley, Jenna Eason, Will Bertz, Rachel Lindemann, Nick Owens and Jasper Biggs.

The Pahrump Valley Junior Golf Association, which sanctioned tournaments for players 7 to 18 years old, and the Rosemary Clarke Middle School golf program, also benefit from the auction.

A total of 160 prizes were auctioned off.
