The StageStop Lounge and Casino is going to be taking advantage of the acreage around the building by providing the community with a place to hold a community bazaar, much like the venue already established at the VFW Post 10054 on Homestead Road. The first bazaar is scheduled 8-4 p.m., Saturday, March 28.

Christy Herrera, the organizer, said plans for launching the bazaar have been in progress for six months. "Finally, we just picked a date and we will go from there," she said.

If all goes well, other attractions such as live music, a barbecue and games for the kids will be added. Herrera said, "We are going to start slow. With this economy, we don't know what will happen but it's an opportunity for the community to come together." The hope is to hold the bazaar once a month.

Admission is free and so is vendor space. Spaces will be 12 by 12 feet and marked off in the grassy area. Seventeen vendors have already signed up. Food vendors are welcome and the StageStop will offer drink specials at the bar during the bazaar.

Nonprofit organizations are welcome as well. The Pahrump Gunfighters already use the facility once a month to stage shootouts, skits and provide information to the public. The gunfighter's next appearance at what they call"Dusty Flats" will be at 1 p.m., Sunday March 29.

"We are more than willing to associate these bazaars with nonprofits wanting a place to hold an event and raise money," Herrera said. "We're trying to keep ourselves in the public and let everyone know we are here for them as a facility."

The venue is free for now but Herrera said she doesn't know if it will stay that way. "We will see how it goes. We need to get established first," she said.

Anyone wanting to set up a place to sell crafts, household items, yard sale goods or are licensed to sell food are welcome to reserve a spot.

Call the StageStop at 727-7300 or Herrera, 702-466-3131, for more information.
