Anyone who joined the Sunday jam session at the Maverick last weekend had a chance to hear the outstanding voice of Michael Cagle.

Attendees came away from the concert inspired and thrilled to learn Cagle is doing a show of his own starting at 7 p.m. April 4 at the Maverick on Mesquite Avenue.

This past Sunday's performance was Cagle's contribution to a fundraiser hosted by the Maverick on behalf of Michael "Tigger" Paul, a local musician currently hospitalized in Las Vegas.

Cagle lives in Las Vegas but has roots in the area. His mother, Jan Broxson, lives here and pride in her son's accomplishments imparts her excitement to those around her. She took her friends to the Maverick so they could hear Cagle's four-octave vocal range in person.

One local woman commented on Cagle's ability to make her appreciate even those songs she didn't like. "He is fantastic," she said. "I've never heard such a beautiful voice."

Cagle certainly has national acclaim to his credit. He has performed vocally, theatrically and been on television.

He has opened shows or appeared in shows with stars such as Reba McEntire, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Trisha Yearwood, Sheena Easton and many more.

Musical theater roles for Cagle have included Herod in "Jesus Christ Superstar," Charles Guiteau in "Assassins" -- which won him a best actor in a musical award -- and Judas in "Godspell."

He also hosted his own TV program and created and co-hosted the popular radio program "The Spin Cycle."

Cagle has played some of the top venues in Las Vegas -- Suncoast, Goldcoast, StarDust, The Palms -- the list just gets longer. He recently left a very successful 13-month run as a headliner at the Bourbon Street Casino to focus on recording and touring again. He still gives sold-out performances at the StarDust.

Cagle is busy. He just finished recording "Back on my Feet Again," a pop project which has garnered good response, and "Showstopper," an all Broadway CD.

On Saturday, April 4, Cagle will fill the house at the Maverick, first in a solo performance and then in a country tribute performance where his main focus is Rascal Flatts.

Tickets are $10 for this one-time opportunity and can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling 702-563-2793.
