The Heitkotter next for PV's track teamsPVT
Pahrump Valley's track teams go back to Las Vegas Saturday, to compete in the Heitkotter Classic at Faith Lutheran High School. The Trojans, who were at Faith Lutheran Tuesday for their first midweek meet of the 2009 season, will be among more than a dozen teams entered in the Heitkotter, starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Andy Schneider-coached Trojans ran against the Crusaders and Southwest Class 4-A rival Western in a tri-meet on the Faith Lutheran all-weather track. Last Friday, Pahrump Valley's freshmen and sophomores performed well in the first of four Southwest meets for those age groups. Ashley Lindgren won the 200-meter dash in 0:27.2 and the 400 in 1:01 for the Lady Trojans. Taylor McJunkin won the long jump at 12 feet, 9 inches. Rachael Maughn cleared 4-6 to win the high jump. Sara Wulfenstein won the 100 hurdles in 0:19.03. Stevie McElheny was first in the 300 hurdles in 0:55.5. Megan Hamrick won the shot put at 27-9 and the discus at 67-2. McJunkin was second in the 100 in 0:13.40; Maughn was second in the 100 hurdles at 0:19.2; Melissa Ewing was second in the 300 hurdles in 0:55.5; Kayla Foster was second in the high jump at 4-2 and second in the long jump at 12-6. Also competing for the girls were Shelby Hughes, Jessica Thomas, Regan VanEngen, Katie Canino, Dana Ayala, M Guski, Avery Moen and Amy Velasco. Nick Stearns was first in the 110 hurdles in 0:16.39 and the 300 hurdles in 0:45.5. Other boys competing were Shane Ervin, Dyoin Romero, Ryan Pereira, Eric Leach, Bryce Moser, Nate Jacobi, Andrew White and Mason John. |
