Spring training for Pahrump Valley's baseball and fast-pitch softball teams continues today, with the Trojans hosting Sunrise Region Southeast Class 4-A Henderson Liberty at the high school diamonds.

For the Rich Lavuer-coached girls, it is the final exhbition game of the spring; it starts at 3:30 p.m.

Coach Chris Iverson's baseball team is at Centennial of the Northwest Division at 3:30 p.m., Friday to close out its preseason.

Both PVHS squads are at home Monday to take on Las Vegas Clark in Sunset Region Southwest Division games. Both start at 3:30 p.m.

The Trojans go to Durango March 26 and are at home against Sierra Vista March 27 in division games.

The softball team is 3-2 going into today's game against Liberty. After going 3-1 at the Route 66 tournament at River Valley, Ariz., Pahrump Valley lost 4-1 to former Southern 3-A League rival Boulder City Monday.

The Trojans lost 9-8 to Escondido, Calif., then downed Phoenix Christian 6-4 and River Valley 11-8, 9-8 in Route 66 games.

The baseball team was 1-3-1 at River Valley when it lost 15-2 to Boulder City Monday. At River Valley, PVHS defeated Bullhead City (Ariz.) Mohave 5-0, behind the one-hit pitching of lefthander Sam Morrow; lost 9-3 to River Valley, lost 9-1 to Spring Creek and fell 5-0 to Ely White Pine, before playing a tie with Chino, Ariz.

In exhibition baseball games Monday, Vo-Tech defeated Clark 7-6, Scottsdale (Ariz.) Horizon edged Bishop Gorman 2-1, Silverado stopped Bonanza 10-8, Green Valley downed Desert Oasis 7-0, Sierra Vista defeated Basic 10-2 and Western slugged Agassi Prep 20-1.

In softball, Cheyenne edged Spring Valley 7-6, Durango blanked Coronado 8-0, and Silverado stunned Desert Oasis 16-0.

NOTES -- Pahrump Valley's softball team will compete in the Kingman (Ariz.) Pepsi Classic April 3-4 ... The Lady Trojans are in a pool with Coconino (Ariz.), Henderson Foothill, Lake Havasu and LaJoya ... They play Coconino at 4 p.m. and LaJoya at 5:30 p.m. April 3 ... On April 4, games are against Foothill at 9 a.m. and Lake Havasu at 10:30 a.m. ... Teams are placed in pools for a bracketed tournament later on April 4.
