4-A SEASON STARTS MONDAY

Shane Lindemann had 79 and Elliott Owens added an 82 for the Pahrump Valley boys' golf team that finished second in a non-division match Thursday at Mountain Falls.

The Trojans finished with 424 in the match which included four Southern Nevada Class 3-A League teams, Needles (Calif.) and 4-A Las Vegas Desert Oasis.

Faith Lutheran led the 3-A teams with 401, while Mesquite Virgin Valley had 434, Boulder City 459 and Moapa Valley 464. Needles, a Class 2-A school, had 514 and Desert Oasis, coached by Larry Goins, 481.

For coach Bob Hopkins' PVHS boys' team, Daniel Shimakawa had 89, Ryan Hammar 88, Dorian Patel 86 and Curtis Weir 92.

Yuki Kato, making another bid to be the 3-A South's player of the year, was medalist with a 72 for Faith Lutheran.

Blake Hampton had 76, Chad Kaercher 88, Braden Bennett 87, Charley Berry 82 and Alex Vance 84 for the Crusaders.

Virgin Valley's Arden Sullivan had 72, while Anthony Lucero added 93, Justin Cascadden 92, Ryan Baeza 85, Travis Rushton 92 and Mitch Jones 96.

For Boulder City, Nick Stevens had 87, Ryan Roundtree 89, Jeremy Dunbar 91, Nick Hoffman 89 and Jacob Lynch 103.

Travis Causey's 83 paced Moapa Valley, which had Cody Kelly shoot 89, Marcus Delgadillo 91, Brachen Brown 100, Cody Nichols 101 and Andrew Andersen 102.

Cullen Potmayor led Needles with 92, while Jay Singarth paced Desert Oasis with 79.

Desert Oasis, like Pahrump Valley a member of the 4-A Sunset Region Southwest Division, had Souag Jea Beak add 89, Steve Kennedy 84 and Jarris Nelson 99. Jon Scruggins had 139 and Nick Cekork 141 for the Diamondbacks.

Pahrump Valley goes to The Palms Friday to play against its former Southern 3-A rivals. On Monday, the Trojans open their Southwest 4-A season at Canyon Gate in Las Vegas.

The Trojans are at home April 2 to play Southwest 4-A opponents and on April 6-7, Pahrump Valley hosts its invitational tournament. Mountain Falls will be the host site for both events.
