Russell 'Jeep' Watson

Russell "Jeep" Watson, 85, passed away March 9, 2009, at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas.

He was born July 31, 1923, in Liberty, Ky., and was a resident of Pahrump for eight years.

He was a veteran of the Army and served during World War II. He was a retired general construction contractor.

His wife, Alyce B. Watson, of Pahrump; daughters Irene Davidson, Inez Beem, Deborah Kovarik and Cindi Brooks all of Las Vegas, and Wendy Watson of McKinney, Texas; son David Watson of Pahrump; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren survive him.

Arrangements are being handled by Palm Mortuary-Jones, in Las Vegas. (03/09/2009)

Frank Carey

Frank Carey, 84, passed away March 9, 2009, in Las Vegas.

He was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Keeline, Wyo., and was a resident of Pahrump for 16 months.

He was a heavy equipment operator and held memberships with the Masons, Elks and Shriners.

He was of the Christian faith.

His wife, Dorothy Carey of Pahrump; daughters Connie Clark of Pahrump and Linda Edwards of Yerington; sister Evelyn Bulson of Boise, Idaho; three granddaughters, Sandra and Kimberly Clark and Timi Ruth Offenbecker; two grandsons, Troy and Erik Villines; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and a son.

Services will be at 2 p.m., March 14 at Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. (03/09/2009)

Robert Nelson Grant

Robert Nelson Grant, 45, passed away March 9, 2009, in Las Vegas.

He was born Aug. 29, 1963, in Pasadena, Calif.

He is survived by sisters Kathy Williams of Pahrump and Connor Grant of Solona Beach, Calif.; nephew Shawn Nickerson; niece Ryan Williams and three step-children, Jim, Justin and Jasmin.

Services will be private. (03/09/2009)

Rosemary Morrison

Rosemary Morrison reported to Heaven's gates for duty Feb. 22, 2009.

She was born Sept. 23, 1922, in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a Pahrump resident for 15 years.

Rosemary was 38-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 13, Reno, and a member of the Daughters of the Nile Amonra in Reno.

She enlisted in the US Marine Corps March 23, 1943, in San Francisco, Calif., and served as a baker during World War II. After the war, she returned to civilian life only to re-enter the Marine Corps July 24, 1950, to serve during the Korean War.

After her time in service, she again returned to civilian life where she joined and was an active member of the Women Marine Association. She belonged to the WMA in Florida and later transferred to the Sagebrush chapter in Nevada.

She was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, the National Association for Active and Retired Federal Employees, and the Marine Corps League in Pahrump.

She was very active in the Marine Corps League and volunteered her home numerous times for the annual rummage sale.

She was also an active life member of the Military Order of the Devil Dogs, the "Fun and Honor Society" of the Marine Corps League. She attained the highest level in the MODD, that of Pedigreed Devil Dog.

Rosemary will long be remembered by her many friends, whom she always gave such great pleasure in cheerful smiles and playful banter. Rosemary, we miss you.

Services will be at 10 a.m. March 21 at Lee Funeral Home on Buol Lane. (02/22/2009)

Garry Thurman

Garry Thurman, 54, passed away March 1, 2009.

He was born Sept, 28, 1954.

Garry was a member of the Gents M.C. He loved to ride and party with the brothers and his friends.

He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Yucaipa, Calif.

He got great joy from organizing "runs" and benefits to help people who were sick or injured or the families of those who had passed on.

He will be truly missed by everyone who knew or had come in contact with him.

He is survived by sisters Carol J. Farral of Centreville, Va., and Bridget K. Thurman of Portland, Ore.; brothers Dale L. Thurman of Murietta, Calif., and Arthur L. Thurman of Sun City, Calif; nephews Erik and Scott Huntngton; nieces Elise Thurman, Christine Salveta and Melissa Thurman and two great-nephews.

"Ride in peace, Brother."

A memorial will be held at noon, March 15 at The Hideaway Lounge on Pahrump Valley Boulevard. (03/01/2009)

Eunice Lora Dickman

Eunice Lora Dickman, 93, passed on to her Heavenly home March 11, 2009.

Eunice was a devoted wife and homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was born to Grace and Elmer Barrett in Boise, Idaho, Oct. 25, 1915.

She will be long remembered for her love of her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, her devotion to her family, baking awesome chocolate chip cookies and wonderful family dinners.

Eunice and her husband Jack, spent most of their married life in Las Vegas, Boise and the past four years in Pahrump. Eunice and Jack recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Eunice spent much of her time on the golf course as a member of the Desert Inn Country Club. Demonstrating her skill as an avid golfer, she accomplished a two holes in one.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Barrett and Grace Rockwell.

Remembering her for her zest for life are her husband Jack; daughter Kay (Robert) Clarke of Las Vegas; son Max (Neusa) Dickman of Boise; granddaughter Jill (Michael) Tietjen of Pahrump; grandsons Jeffery (Michele) Johnson of Las Vegas and Daniel and David Dickman of Boise; great-grandchildren Timothy, Zachary, Corey, Samuel, Casey, Kailee and Lucas.

A celebration memorial will be held at 2 p.m. March 14 at Choice Hills Baptist Church. A reception will immediately follow at the home of Jill Tietjen, 361 W. Hickory St.

Eunice, now at peace after having suffered from a long battle with dementia, will truly be missed by her devoted family and friends. (03/11/2009)
