Pahrump resident is killed, suspect jailedPVT
Timothy Lester Liapes, 50, of Pahrump was arrested Saturday for the murder of Robert Humphrey, 45, also from Pahrump. When Nye County deputies and detectives responded to a call at 10 a.m. March 5, at Liapes' home, they found Humphrey already dead from a gunshot wound to the head. The only other person on the scene was Liapes. After interviewing Humphrey's family and friends, detectives initially ruled Liapes' death to be a suicide. However, further investigation and evidence from the medical examination led to a finding of homicide. Detectives obtained search warrants for Liapes' residence to collect DNA and for a gunshot residue examination. Liapes is being held at the Pahrump jail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m., April 17. A private family service has been planned for Humphrey. |
