Fundraiser for sheriff's deputy

PVT

A fundraiser is planned at the Stateline Saloon in Amargosa Valley March 21 and March 28 to raise funds for Joe and Tootsie Cohan whose house burned down last Friday.

Cohan has been a deputy with the Nye County Sheriff's Department for 25 years.

Maggie Herzig, owner of the Stateline, is trying to line up musicians to donate time for the fundraiser and raffle items to auction off. The Cohans lived right behind the Stateline Saloon, she said.

The Cohan's dachshund woke them up and alerted them to the fire, but later perished in the blaze, Herzig said.

Herzig can be reached at 775-372-5672.
